First Term complete! Here are a few stats:
66 Assemblies
64 Mentoring Days
28 lunch clubs
10 lessons
1 Anam Cara (13 lessons)
With several last-minute lessons on top of this it's been a tad busy - but GREAT fun!
Through all of the schools work, all of the conversations we have had about God, we always share how Christians feel God is easily accessible by all regardless of their situation. But it's easy to say this when you have that relationship with God and know that nothing will change that. For many young people, it is so different. If you want to chuck an analogy at it, the cross must feel like it's in the middle of the wilderness for them. It's absolutely not what the Bible says about the ease of accessing God through Jesus, but how do you explain to someone that they are loved when they don't love themselves? How can you tell them that God is their loving father when their experience of a paternal figure is quite the opposite? And how can you tell them that a future with God is a future in eternal paradise when the whole of society suggests otherwise? The truth is, we can't. We don't preach anyway, but we do share how we believe all of the above is relevant in our lives as Christians. A rather separated way of doing things though, isn't it? In short then, it's an ongoing challenge for us to communicate the relevance of our God to our young people. And that's why we're going back into schools in January. Another Term, another full diary, another HUGE bunch of opportunities to do more sharing.
Please pray for these young people over Christmas; pray that our light of the world will shine so brightly in each of their lives over the coming weeks. And that, for those who are searching, may they discover the cross is right in front of them - and God is ready to turn their wilderness into a stunning oasis.
Thanks all for your support this Term - see you in 2017.
