Square Pegs is taking shape as we've just designed week four of the six-week course. Challenges are big issues for those who don't feel like they belong at secondary school, so we will use this session to hit home the importance of stretching ourselves while recognising our limits.
Sure enough, some challenges may come our way that'll be too big of us...to begin with. By working at them time and again, the challenges will become easier and we will have massive experiences as a result.
For the young people, this could be overcoming their struggles with socialising by joining a lunchtime club; perhaps the challenges of homework can be met by having stricter discipline and a determination to get off Fortnite! And so on, the challenges we face will define us, develop stronger willpower in us and enable us to grow as individuals.
And when the challenges seem too big? Isaiah 43
has it covered...
When you're in over your head, I'll be there for you.
When you're in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you're between a rock and a hard place, it won't be a dead end -
Because I am God, your personal God...I paid a huge price for you.
Let us all remember this promise when facing our own challenges this week.
