Our secondary school assemblies this term are focusing on the need to have strong foundations (a la The Wise & Foolish Builders). Of course, many young people are unable to change the foundations that have been laid under them so far, but they can strengthen what's there by injecting positive role models, following passions and being the best they can be. And, for those who have perfect foundations, it's important they maintain their buildings (themselves) too....look at what's happened to the countless castles around the UK: built on perfectly stable ground, but lack of upkeep over the centuries has resulted in them being piles of rubble.
So here's the challenge for us, the supporters of CYO; Let's strengthen our foundations. Let's spend more time with God in prayer and worship. Let's pray over the work of CYO and other charities so that God can continue to bless them. And finally, let's promise to maintain ourselves so that we're in perfect condition to keep God at the very centre of our lives.
